INTRODUCTION

Well here we go.  Just a couple more weeks and Jared and Denisha will be heading to CATIE in Turrialba, Costa Rica.  We're trying to get this blog set up so we can follow their activities while they study sustainable tourism and relax in Costa Rica.  I am NMSU's liason with CATIE as we work to build this Summer Sustainability Series program.  Our goal is to offer this program every summer.

The SSS program is a four-week study abroad experience in Costa Rica centered on...you guessed it...sustainability.  This summer session will feature a concentration on sustainability in the hospitality industry...a valuable export for many countries. Hosted by researchers from the Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center (CATIE) in Turrialba, Costa Rica, student's time abroad will consist of a combination of fieldwork, labs, lectures, and site visits.

This 6-credit hour class is for juniors and seniors with at least a 2.5 GPA who might have an interest in graduate school.  It is open to: adventurous travelers seeking a unique experience; students from any college or major, and anyone looking to gain international exposure.

Have a great experience you two!  Hopefully we'll meet up sometime in July. - Mr. B
